It's win and in for the Oahu Interscholastic Association Division II semifinalists this weekend.
Winners of this weekend's Division II semifinals not only advance to the championship, they earn First Hawaiian Bank state tournament berths.
Defending OIA D2 champion Nanakuli, the second seed of the four-team tournament, hosts third seed Kaimuki, 8 p.m. Friday in one semifinal, while top seed Radford will face fourth seed Waialua, 7 p.m. Saturday at Aiea High's field in the other. The winners meet for the OIA D2 title on Oct. 30 at Aloha Stadium.
Since 2003, when the OIA started the Division II tournament, the top two seeds have played for the title 11 times. The second seed has won six titles, while top seed has won five times.
The only lower seed to win it all was Radford in 2005. The Rams were seeded third, but that was more of a technicality because Radford, top-seeded Moanalua and second-seeded Campbell all finished with 6-1 records during the regular season. A coin toss decided the seeding order.
ILH
In the Interscholastic League of Honolulu Division II race, Damien (2-1) can clinch the title with a win against Pac-Five (1-2) in the regular-season finale, 3:45 p.m. Saturday at Aloha Stadium.
A Wolfpack win would force a three-way tie; idle Saint Francis is 2-2. A two-tiered playoff would determine the champion.
KIF
Meanwhile, Kapaa (5-0 with a game to play) has clinched the Kauai Interscholastic Federation title and is the first team to secure a state berth. The Warriors have yet to allow a score in KIF play (190-0). The record for fewest points allowed in the KIF is three by Waimea in 1981. Kapaa has a bye this week and closes out the season next weekend against Waimea.
BIIF
Second seed and defending champion Kamehameha hosts third-seeded Hawaii Prep in one Big Island Interscholastic Federation Division II semifinals on Saturday, while top-seeded Konawaena hosts fourth-seeded Honokaa on Friday. The winners play for the BIIF crown and state berth.
The winners advance to the BIIF D2 championship next week.
MIL
Lahainaluna is closing out the Maui Interscholastic League second round Friday at King Kekaulike. If the Lunas win, they will clinch the league's Division II second round title and force a playoff with first-round champion Kamehameha for the league's overall crown and state berth.
