MILILANI — Campbell won its second match in as many days with a 4-3 win over Kaiser in the quarterfinal round of the Oahu Interscholastic Association Division I Girls Soccer Tournament at John Kauinana Stadium Tuesday night.

The West third-seeded Sabers (9-2-1) scored early and often to upset the East second-seeded Cougars (8-2-1).

Freshman midfielder Destiny Souza scored a pair of early goals and junior midfielder Aliani Lorenzo and sophomore midfielder Kenna Sabino added a goal each to lead Campbell into Thursday's semifinal round, where it will play Mililani at 5:30 p.m. at Castle.

The win also secured the Sabers' spot in the 12-team Division I state tournament next month.

"It's an awesome feeling," Campbell coach Ryan Leong said. "We're very blessed to be here. The girls worked very hard. Our coaching staff did an awesome job and everybody just came together, we stayed on one page and we kept it that way. We didn't let down, we held our composure and the girls are doing awesome."

Souza found the goal in the very first minute of the game, when she gathered the ball on the left side of the goal and powered a left-footed shot from about eight yards out just inside the right post.

"I was very motivated," Souza said. "I was ready for this game. I really wanted to win. It was in my mind to win and score. From warmups, I knew I was going to score."

About six minutes later, Souza capitalized on a Kaiser miscue. Sabino fired a right-footed shot that ricocheted off of goalie Celeste Ashimine and back to Souza, who tapped it over Ashimine with her right foot and into the goal.

"I was one-on-one with the goalie and I just shot it," Souza said. "I went in front of the girl and volleyed it in over the goalie's head."

Souza entered the game having scored just two goals all season.

"She was lacking a little bit in the beginning of the season, but we had a good talk with her and she turned it on tonight and we're just so proud of her and her teammates," Leong said.

Lorenzo tallied her second goal in as many days in the 27th minute, when she blasted a left-footed shot from about 22 yards out just inside the left post to extend Campbell's lead to 3-0.

Early in the second half, Sabino added another goal on a breakaway along the right sideline. She dribbled a right-footed shot to the left of Ashimine, which bounced off the inside of the left post and into the goal.

Kaiser finally scored in the 64th minute off a penalty kick by Noelle Mercado, who placed the shot to the right side of the goal. Kai

Hasegawa drew the foul against a Campbell defender inside the 18-yard box to set-up the score.

About seven minutes later, Hasegawa received a feed from Mercado and broke away for another Cougars' goal to cut the score to 4-2.

Kaiser cut it to a one-score game just five minutes later on a Mercado goal off a corner kick, but ultimately ran out of time.

"We knew that they played physical, so we had to play even harder," Souza said of the Cougars. "We don't take people for granted."

Campbell opened tournament play with a 1-0 first-round win over Kailua Monday on a first-half goal by Lorenzo.

Kaiser, which is ranked ninth in the ScoringLive/OC16 Girls Soccer Power Rankings and had an opening-round bye, will meet Kapolei in consolation match Wednesday at 5:30 p.m. at Roosevelt's Ticky Vasconcellos Stadium.

TUESDAY'S OTHER QUARTERFINAL RESULTS:
MILILANI 3, KAPOLEI 0:
The Trojans (10-0-1) took care of business in the nightcap at Kauinana Stadium with a shutout of the visiting Hurricanes (6-5-1).

Tia Furuta scored her league-leading 18th goal in just the second minute of the match and was followed by goals by Jayna Morikawa in the 28th minute and Kayla Braunthal in the 54th. Andrea Kenagy anchored the defensive effort with nine saves in goal.

The win secures a semifinal date against fellow Western Division-foe Campbell at 5:30 p.m. Thursday at Castle and a coveted berth in the state tournament next month.

"It was a very key game for us," Mililani coach Ray Akiona said. "I think we wanted to stay positive and kind of know where our destiny is going to be already, as far as both (the OIA and state) tournaments, so we're very happy for this win."

Mililani, ranked fourth in the ScoringLive/OC16 Girls Soccer Power Rankings, won the West regular season and had a first-round bye as a result, while Kapolei was playing its second game in as many days.

The Hurricanes were coming off a 1-0 in over Castle in penalty kicks in Monday's opening round of the tournament. It was just the second time all season they allowed three goals by an opponent and their fourth loss in which they've been shutout.

The Trojans also won the regular-season meeting between the teams, 1-0, back on Jan. 6.

"I think the intensity that we had in the beginning of the game is what gave us the edge," Akiona said. "We came on really strong and once you have a lead like that then you can play a little more comfortable, but I've got to give it to Kapolei. They just constantly came back and never gave up on it, so at the end they had a lot more opportunities than we did and that's something that we need to work on."

Akiona was able to rest most of his starting unit for a good portion of the second half, which he hopes will bode well for the rest of the tournament.

"It's always good to have rest," Akiona said. "These girls play hard and they play every minute hard, so giving them time to stretch it out and, you know, a few of them have some nicks and bruises, so it'll give them some time to ice it down a little bit, but getting those legs back fresh again it keeps the momentum with you and keeps your team at the level we need to be."

Kapolei, the fifth seed out of the West, will play Kaiser in a 5:30 p.m. consolation game Wednesday at Roosevelt.

MOANALUA 1, AIEA 0: Hailey Graham scored her 12th goal of the season to lead Na Menehune (9-2-1) past Na Alii (7-2-2). Moanalua, ranked eighth in the ScoringLive/OC16 Girls Soccer Power Rankings, will play sixth-ranked Kahuku in a 7 p.m. semifinal Thursday at Castle. Tenth-ranked Aiea will meet Pearl City in a 7 p.m. consolation game Wednesday at Roosevelt.

KAHUKU 1, PEARL CITY 0: Kamaile Aluli netted the lone goal of the game in the second half to help the Red Raiders (9-0-2) knock off the Chargers (8-3-1) in the late quarterfinal at Carleton E. Weimer Field. Kahuku, the East champion, had a first-round bye Monday, while Pearl City, the defending league champions and West No. 4 seed, defeated Roosevelt, 3-1.
