Kalie Halvorson scored a goal and assisted on another to spot Buffanblu an early 2-0 margin, but Cougars rallied with a goal late in the first half and then the equalizer in the 71st minute to salvage a 2-2 tie in the late game of the first day of the Lady Cougars Preseason Invitational.
Havlorson took advantage of a mishandled ball on the Cougars' end of the field and placed the ball over the goalie's head for the opening score of the game in the 19th minute. She then assisted on the second score of the game, setting up Allison Portis for a tap-in goal in the 37th.
Kaiser responded with a goal less than 30 seconds later, as Noelle Mercado looped a score over the Buffanblu keeper to trim the margin to 2-1 at the half.
Kai Hasegawa's score the equalizer in the 71st minute, and would be the final score of the contest.
Tonight's match was the first action of year for both squads, who began practicing just five days ago.
