HALAWA — Ikaika Woolsey passed for 201 yards and a touchdown, but it wasn't enough as Hawaii fell to Nevada, 26-18, in a Mountain West Conference game Saturday night.
The Rainbow Warriors (2-6 overall, 1-2 league) built a 10-0 second quarter lead, but allowed 26 consecutive points by the Wolf Pack (5-3, 2-2) and came up short with their fourth-quarter rally.
Woolsey completed 18 of his 32 pass attempts and opened the scoring with a 38-yard scoring strike to Donnie King in the first quarter. Tyler Hadden made a 36-yard field goal in the second quarter, but also had a 32-yard try in the first quarter blocked by Nevada's Jordan Dobrich. Steven Lakalaka closed out the scoring with his 5-yard touchdown run in the game's final minute.
The Wolf Pack controlled much of the second half — when they held the ball for all but five minutes — after trailing at halftime, 10-6.
Cody Fajardo totaled 261 yards of offense and factored into three touchdowns, including his 8-yard run in the third quarter and a 16-yard touchdown pass to Hasaan Henderson in the fourth quarter. He also scored on a 6-yard run late in the first half. Brent Zuzo kicked field goals of 22 and 20 yards for the Wolf Pack.
Taz Stevenson recorded a game-high 12 tackles to lead the Hawaii defense.
Nevada has now won 11 of the 20 meetings against Hawaii in series history.
