Saint Francis School has named Ron Durant as head coach of its three-time Interscholastic League of Honolulu Division II champion boys basketball team, the school's co-athletic directors Chad Konishi and Duane Eldredge announced.
They also announced Chris Hoe as the head coach of the Saints girls' varsity basketball team.
Durant spent last season as the head coach of the Kamehameha II team. He led the Warriors to a 5-4 record and a third place finish in Division 1-AA. He succeeds Sol Batoon, who coached the Saints through most of their first four seasons in varsity play. Saint Francis finished 9-2 in league play last season, winning its third straight title in a playoff against Damien. Saint Francis won the Division II state title in 2013.
Hoe succeeds Cole Pacarro. He assisted Pacarro last season when the Saints varsity finished second in ILH Division II with an 8-1 record.
