Kapaa, ranked No. 3 in the ScoringLive/OC16 Division II Power Rankings, remained undefeated in Kauai Interscholastic Federation play with a 34-6 win over Kauai (2-4, 2-2 league) Saturday at Vidinha Stadium.
The Warriors (4-1, 4-0 KIF) got 22 total points out of their defense and special teams units. Linebacker Austyne Carvalho-Toloai returned one of four Kauai interceptions 40 yards for a score and Mosese Fifita recovered a punt block made by Trestin Alfiler in the end zone. Kicker Noah LaMadrid kicked field goals from 41 and 20 yards out and was perfect on four PATs.
Also recording interceptions in the contest was safety Chaz Pacleb (two) and Nainoa Soto.
Kapaa's other two scores were on two one-yard runs by defensive lineman Liki Koli.
Quarterback Rudy Agoot returned from a knee injury to complete eight of his 14 pass attempts for 93 yards. Running back Elijah McCarthy-Gouveia rushed for a season-high 117 yards on a season-high 17 carries.
Kauai avoided the shutout with an Aaron Renaud four-yard run.
The Warriors can clinch the KIF title and second state berth in school history with a win over Waimea (1-4, 0-4) Saturday.
