Tua Tagovailoa and Ryder Kuhns put on a passing clinic, combining to complete 25 of 26 passes for 443 yards and five touchdowns and Saint Louis rolled Iolani, 55-20, Saturday afternoon at Kozuki Stadium. The Crusaders won their second in a row - albeit against Division II schools - to improve to 2-3 overall and 2-1 in the in the Interscholastic League of Honolulu, while the Raiders fell to 2-1 overall and 1-1 in the ILH.In the first half alone, Tagovailoa, a sophomore, completed 15 of 16 passes for 352 yards and five TDs. The only pass that was incomplete was his second of the game. He went on to complete 14 in a row. Kuhns was a perfect 10 of 10 for 91 yards in the second half."It starts from the linemen," Tagovailoa said of his five TD performance. "If it wasn't for the line, I wouldn't have got anything completed. And our receivers, we had some mistakes, which made me had to run, but things went well passing and running."Tagovailoa had TD passes of 67 yards to Drew Kobayashi, 40 yards to Riccardo Sallas III, 72 and 6 yards to Cash Searle and 21 yards to Allan Cui.Saint Louis took a 42-7 lead into the half on Tagovailoa's fifth TD pass (to Cui) with a minute left. The second half began with the running clock because of the 35-point differential mercy rule, but that ended quickly as the Raiders scored on their first series after taking the second-half kickoff. But behind Kuhns, the Crusaders followed with two more scores to make it 55-14 to start up the running clock again at 11:28 in the fourth quarter. Iolani scored midway through the fourth, but the PAT failed, keeping the running clock going with Saint Louis ahead, 55-20."Guys executed what we had planned this past week," Saint Louis quarterbacks coach Vince Passas said. "We've seen improvement. The first three games, those programs were really top-notch programs. (Our players) are starting to believe in the system and everyone's getting to know one another."Tagovailoa, who has the ability to buy time and escape pressure, showed patience before taking off. When he did run, he was productive, picking up 47 yards on four rushes."As long as he can create more opportunities, things will work out us," Passas said. "Today he seemed to stay alive a little bit, passed toward the sidelines and made throws outside of the pocket. He's been getting better and better every game."Saint Louis kept the Raiders honest with its run game. Running backs Jonathan Manalo and Jahred Silofau combined for 161 yards on 23 carries. Silofau led with 101 yards on 13 carries and a 20-yard TD run, while Manalo had 60 yards and a 6-yard TD run.Saint Louis' defense came up big twice, stopping the Raiders, who lost the ball on downs after a fourth-and-goal at the Saint Louis 2 in the first quarter and on fourth-and-goal at the Saint Louis 9 with four minutes left in the half.Iolani QB Austin Jim On completed 16 of 26 passes for 149 yards and one TD, a 15-yard pass to Keoni-Kordell Makekau early in the second quarter.Running back KJ Pascua led the Raiders with 83 yards rushing on 18 carries, while Storm Lotomau had 79 yards on 13 rushes, including TD runs of 6 and 4 yards.
