The Kapolei boys and Pearl City girls won the Oahu Interscholastic Association Team Championships at Waipahu High School Friday night.
In the boys' final, Kapolei defeated Moanalua, 60-40. The Hurricanes got 10-point wins by Jayson Pagurayan, Anthony Brett, Bryson Hughes and Isaiah Alapai. Kapolei, the West top seed, beat Kalani (87-10) in the quarterfinal round and Pearl City (80-20) in the semifinals.
In the girls' final, Pearl City topped Mililani, 77-20. The Chargers got 10-point wins by Adrienne Nazareno, Chastyne Dolor, Joen Tominaga, Netanya Kang and Trudi Eltagonde. Pearl City, the West top seed, beat Farrington (92-0) in the quarterfinal round and Roosevelt (80-20) in the semifinals.
The top four boys and girls teams from the East and West qualified for the eight-team, single-elimination tournament.
The Hawaii High School Athletic Association State Championships will be held Saturday, May 10 at the Stan Sheriff Center.
