OIA Red volleyball playoffs begin Thursday


The O'ahu Interscholastic Association Red Conference girls volleyball playoffs begin Thursday with first-round doubleheaders at Kahuku and Campbell.
At Kahuku, West No. 4 seed Wai'anae (6-4) faces East No. 5 Farrington (4-7) at 5 p.m., followed by East No. 3 Kahuku (9-2) vs. West No. 6 Kapolei (5-5).
At Campbell, East No. 4 Castle (8-3) meets West No. 5 'Aiea (6-4) at 5 p.m., followed by West No. 3 Campbell (7-3) vs. East No. 6 McKinley (4-7).
Matches will be played in a best-of-five format, with a fifth set capped at 15 points.
The winners will advance to next week's second round; the losers will be eliminated.
The top six teams at tournament's end will earn state tournament berths.
The OIA White Conference tournament begins next Tuesday.
