'EWA BEACH - Caragh Morris' second of two home runs - a two-run shot in the bottom of the sixth inning - carried Campbell over No. 10 Leilehua, 11-9, Saturday at the Sabers' field. The Sabers (5-3) pulled in front of the of the Mules (5-4) for sole possession of third place in the O'ahu Interscholastic Association Red West softball standings. Both trail second-place Wai'anae (6-3) and first-place Mililani (7-2).Leilehua scored three runs in the top of the sixth to tie the game at 8. In the bottom of the sixth, Sissy Pantastico singled with one out and Morris drilled Chasity Stalcup's first pitch to the right-center alley at the fenceless field. Elisa Favela followed with a ground single to center and courtesy runner Abbygale Doldolea advanced to second when Kawehi Kahana reached on a fielder's choice grounder to shortstop, whose errant throw allowed Doldolea to take third. Kyra Hoohuli's flare single to center scored Doldolea to put the Sabers up, 11-8, before the next two batters were retired. The relentless Mules, who trailed 8-1 after four innings, threatened in the top of the seventh. Sage Akina-Sanborn led off with a single, stole second and took third on Stalcup's single to right. Stalcup stole second to put runners at second and third. Chloe Pojas hit a bouncer to pitcher Favela, who threw out the batter at first. While the runner on third held her bag, the runner on second tried to advance. First baseman Morris fired to third to double-off the runner. Akina scored on a wild pitch before Favela got Chelsea Lobitos to pop out to shortstop to end the game."People got too complacent because of the lead," Campbell coach Shag Hermosura said. "We were lucky today. Leilehua is a great team; they put the barrel on the ball and they made the plays. If we made the plays that we're supposed to be making, it wouldn't have been as close as it was today."Both teams were hampered by errors - five by Campbell and four by Leilehua - and misplays that did not show up as errors. Morris, who was 2 for 4, also hit a solo homer to center in the fourth that made it 8-1. Nashlynn Anguay, who was 3 for 4 with four RBI, hit a three-run homer to right in the third inning that made it 7-1."Before, I had a hard time hitting," Morris said. "The coaches were telling me I had to wait for my pitch. You have to look for the one you want; don't just go swinging around."She did not wait long to find her pitch. Her first homer was off an 0-1 count and her second was off a first pitch."Actually, today she was not feeling well," Hermosura said of the the first baseman third hitter in the lineup. "She played her heart out today. She works hard out in the (batting) cage at practice."Leilehua leadoff hitter Chenoa Au was 2 for 4 with three runs scored and a steal, while Mahealani Calizo was 2 for 2 with three RBI.Favela (5-3) pitched the distance, allowing nine runs, 12 hits and a walk for Campbell. Stalcup gave up four runs and six hits in 3 1/3 innings of relief for Mules' starter Taezha-Ann Cordero, who allowed seven runs and five hits in 2 2/3 innings.
