The first- and second-place teams in the Oahu Interscholastic Association Red West will do battle Saturday afternoon when third-ranked Campbell visits 10th-ranked Waipahu. 

The Sabers (6-0) lead the Marauders (4-1) by 1 1/2 games in the seven-team division entering the weekend.

Campbell has posted four shutouts, including its last three games, and has outscored opponents 43 to 5 on the year. Dorrien Villanueva-Hermosura threw 6 2/3 scoreless innings while allowing just four hits to pick up the win in a road game at Mililani Wednesday. He struck out seven and walked one. Zachary "Kila" Kapihe came in to get the final out and the save. Kapihe, who batted sixth and played right field, batted 3 for 3. Leadoff batter Jobe Ibana also collected three hits, including a triple and a double in his first two at-bats.

Sabers' coach Rory Pico will have both Kapihe and Ian Kahaloa available to start Saturday's game, which was pushed back from its original start time of 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. due to a softball game between Waipahu and Leilehua in the morning.

Kapihe, a 5-foot-7 junior, is 2-0 with a 1.75 ERA this season. He has allowed three runs on five hits with six strikeouts and three walks in 12 innings pitched. Kahaloa, a 6-foot-1 junior, is also 2-0 in three appearances, including two starts. He has struck out 15 batters and allowed just two walks and five hits in 12 innings of work. He has yet to allow an earned run.

Campbell averages 7.2 runs scored and 0.83 runs allowed per game. Its largest margin of victory came in a 12-0 win over Pearl City in a game that was shortened to five innings due to the mercy rule, while its closest win came in a season-opening 5-4 decision over Mililani.

Waipahu has been prolific at the plate as of late. The Marauders have scored 23 runs in the last two games — a 12-7 win over Kapolei and an 11-0 shutout of Pearl City.

Staff ace Dylan Sugimoto picked up the win against the Chargers — which ended after five innings due to the mercy rule — allowing just three hits with six strikeouts and four walks. He also drove in three runs on a home run and a double while batting in the leadoff spot. Oakland Scanlan, a 6-foot-2 junior, batted 3 for 3 and drove in a pair of runs as did Tyler Enos and Patrick Villanueva. Waipahu has not played since beating Pearl City last Saturday, which means Sugimoto will likely start against Campbell.

Sugimoto, a 5-foot-10 senior, is 1-1 with a 0.50 ERA in four appearance, including three starts. He has struck out 14 batters and walked nine in 14 innings pitched and also has a save to his credit. Sugimoto has committed to San Jose State University for next year.

Waipahu averages 6.2 runs scored and 1.5 runs allowed per game. The Marauders, whose game at Leilehua Wednesday was postponed due to heavy rains in Central Oahu, will be playing their third consecutive home game. They are in the midst of a five-game homestand before hitting the road for their final four regular-season games. 

In other Red West games this weekend, Aiea (2-4) hosts Leilehua (2-3) at 3:30 p.m. Friday and Mililani (2-4) visits Kapolei (1-4) at 11 a.m. Saturday.
