HALAWA - For two quarters, Pac-Five hung tough with Kamehameha, but in the end the fifth-ranked Warriors were too much for the Wolf Pack.

Kamehameha, which led 7-0 at halftime, scored 17 second-half points before a crowd of about 2,500 at Aloha Stadium Friday night to improve to 4-2 overall and 3-0 in the Interscholastic League of Honolulu.

Pac-Five, which was held to just 108 yards of total offense, lost its third straight game to drop to 3-3 and 0-3 in the ILH.

The Warriors' special teams unit was responsible for the lone first-half score. With Pac-Five's Noah Oyler lined up for a 47-yard field goal try, Kamehameha's Kamuela Grugier-Hill came off the offense's right edge and layed out to block the kick. After it was batted by several players, Pono Choy came up with the ball at the Wolf Pack 25-yard line and took it the rest of the way for the Kamehameha touchdown.

Kanekoa Pawn-White's extra point gave the Warriors a 7-0 lead with 41 seconds left in the first half.

Pac-Five received the opening kickoff in the second half, but went three-and-out and Kamehameha started its drive on the Wolf Pack 34.

Quarterback Nephi Stevens completed a clutch 13-yard pass to Alika McGuire on fourth-and-12 and two plays later, Tyler Meditz scored on a 21-yard run with seven minutes and 51 seconds left in the third quarter. The 5-foot-9, 155-pound junior running back took the handoff from Stevens, cut back to his right and dragged two defenders across the goal line.

After Pac-Five fumbled later in the quarter on an attempted halfback pass, Kamehameha took over at the Wolf Pack 7. Meditz lost three yards on a first-down run, but Stevens connected with Avery Amasiu for a 10-yard touchdown pass on the very next play. Pawn-White's PAT extended the Warriors' lead to 21-0 with 3:17 left in the third.

Pawn-White, who missed field goals from 41 and 52 yards in the first half, converted on a 26-yard attempt midway through the fourth to make the score, 24-0.

The Wolf Pack made just five first downs and were 1-of-11 on third downs. They committed nine penalties for 70 yards.

Meditz finished with 55 yards on 12 rushes. Stevens was 8-of-17 passing for 93 yards with no interceptions.
