In the second game of the ILH triple header, Division I ScoringLive/OC16 Power Rankings No. 3 Saint Louis trailed 13-7 in the second quarter then scored 42 unanswered points to rout the Division II ScoringLive/OC16 Power Rankings No. 3 'Iolani Raiders at Hawaiian Airlines Field at Aloha Stadium. The Crusaders moved to 2-1 in the ILH (4-1 overall), while 'Iolani falls to 0-2 in the ILH (3-3 overall).

The Crusaders finished the game with 684 yards of net offense and Ryder Kuhns went 13-of-17 for 257 yards and 2 touchdowns. However, they had success with their running game and amassed 415 rushing yards on the Raiders. Running back Adam Noga led the way with 16 carries for 203 yards and 3 touchdowns. He also had 3 catches for 57-yards and 1 touchdown.

"We wanted to run the ball coming into this game, this is something we haven't established it as much as we wanted to. We knew how potent of an offense that 'Iolani has, we knew that with running the rock we had to keep their offense off the field and it was a big part of our game plan. I give our o-line and our running backs a ton of credit and they executed the game plan," said Saint Louis coach Matt Wright.

"I give thanks and praise to my o-line for opening up those big holes," said Noga.

The Saint Louis defense held Iolani's running back Jordan Ross in check and held the Raiders to 72 net rushing yards and 231 yards of net offense for the game.

"I thought our defense did a great job. It was back and forth, which we knew it would be. But I think we made some adjustments and our boys went out there and made plays," said Wright.

The Raiders made it interesting as they took a 3-0 lead after a 29-yard field goal by Keoni-Kordell Makekau early in the first quarter. With 3:55 remaining in the first quarter, Easton Tsubata passed it to Jordan Ross for an 8 yard touchdown pass to put the Raiders up, 10-0.

"Anytime you play 'Iolani, with how well-coached they are and what they do, they can score at anytime and we knew it would be a battle coming into this and they didn't disappoint. I think our boys kept fighting and did what they needed to do," said Wright.

"Our coaches told to keep our head up, do what we do and keep moving," added Noga.

It was all Adam Noga as Saint Louis answered with a 4-play, 80 yard drive and he rushed for a 13 yard touchdown to bring the Crusaders within 3, 10-7.

Early in the second quarter, Makekau kicked a 41-yard field goal to put the Raiders back up, 13-7.

After a Raiders three-and-out, the Crusaders took advantage and Kuhns hit Drew Kobayashi for a 79-yard touchdown pass and they took the lead, 14-13 and never looked back.

Noga scored a 7-yard touchdown and Raymond Caayon added 2 yard touchdown to put the Crusaders up 28-13 going into halftime.

To start the third quarter, Devan Stubblefield returned the kickoff 44-yards to to the Saint Louis 46-yard line and on the next play, Noga blasted through for a 54-yard touchdown run.

After the Raiders went three-and-out, the Crusaders used a 4-play, 65 yard drive capped off by a Kuhns pass to Noga for 27-yards.

Backup Crusader quarterback Jimmy Nunuha added a 19-yard touchdown run to put the game into running clock for the remainder of the contest.

Saint Louis has a bye next week, while 'Iolani takes on Division II foe Damien on September, 21 at 7:30.
