Utilizing a balanced offensive attack, USC opened its 2013 campaign with a 30-13 victory over Hawaii.
Wide receiver Marquis Lee had a game high 8 receptions for 104 yards and running back Tre Madden added 109 yards on 18 carries as the visiting Trojans rolled up 364 yards of total offense to the Warriors' 231.
Trailing 5-3 in the waning minutes of the second quarter, the Trojans scored two touchdowns in a 1:29 span and added a Andre Heidari 52-yard field goal as time expired in the first half to take a 20-3 lead into the intermission.
USC added a third field goal from Heidari in the third quarter and then a three yard TD run by Justin Davis to lead 30-5 with just 42 seconds to play.
On the ensuing Warriors' drive, quarterback Taylor Graham found Keith Kirkwood on a 60-yard pitch-and-catch for the lone trip to the endzone for the home team. Ikaika Woosley ran in the two-point conversion to cap the scoring in the contest.
Graham completed 18-of-41 passes for 208 yards and a touchdown, but was picked off four times, including one taken back 35-yards for a score by the Trojans' Josh Shaw.
The Trojans utliized both Cody Kessler (10-of-19 for 95 yards, 1 TD, 1 INT) and Max Wittek (5-of-10 for 77 yards) at quarterback, with Kessler taking all of the snaps in the first half.
Defensively, both teams found success in pressuring the quarterback, with the Trojans registering seven sacks and the Warriors three.
