When the final state champion is crowned in May, its easy to think that our hard working crew at ScoringLive packs up the gear and takes a much needed respite from it all.
In actuality, the summertime is arguably every bit as busy as during the sports season, as we constantly tinker with, add-on or improve upon all of the various "bells-and-whistles" that help to expand and enrichen the user experience on ScoringLive.com.
Here's a few highlights:
> We're extremely pleased with the new lineup of features on our site, which we kicked off with the much improved second-edition of our 16in16 Football Preview Series, including four Neighbor Island squads profiled.
> To follow-up on 16in16, we rolled out our inaugural Prep Football Preview, a full 15 pages worth of quotes, schedules and commentary of every team in the state.
> Our scores ticker has been expanded to display even more games at a glance, and the very popular ScoreCenter module has become the New City Nissan StatFeed, new name but same up-to-the-minute scores, stats and info from games statewide.
> Other new developments include the UHA Game of the Week, which will highlight the marquee matchup of each week during the year, and our newly revamped Top Performers, that will feature both a male and female athlete weekly.
> Freshly minted just days ago is the Life Matters Award, presented by HawaiiUSA FCU, which will recognize high school athletic teams that make positive changes in the life of individuals and organizations throughout Hawaii.
> Perhaps the most exciting addition is a full slate of weekly live broadcasts of both OIA and ILH action. We're proud to be the exclusive audio broadcaster of ILH sports, and continue to be blessed to be able to provide streaming video of OIA athletics through our association with OC16 Sports.
> Also back in 2013 are our three team contests presented by Pizza Hut and Taco Bell: the Pizza Hut D/ST Scoreboard, the Taco Bell Free Throw Challenge and the Pizza Hut Hit Tracker.
Beyond what you can see as an end user, we also worked dilligently to improve our website architecture and infrastructure, implementing some major changes to our servers and code base to help minimize load and bring our users the best possible experience even during peak traffic hours on our site.
Through all of the changes and evolution of our product undergoes each year, what hasn't changed is our staff's personal commitment to make ScoringLive the best source for Hawaii High School athletics. Clearly, the efforts of our hard-working staff allow us to provide the fastest and most accurate scores and stats in the state, and I can't stress enough how integral our crew has been to the success ScoringLive has enjoyed.
So here's to another landmark year of coverage of high school athletics in the 808.
Oh, and make sure to stay tuned for even more bells and whistles to come before the year is out.
Every contribution, no matter the size, will help ScoringLive continue its mission to provide the best and most comprehensive coverage of high school sports in the state of Hawaii and beyond.
Please consider making a contribution today.
