HAWAII KAI - Quarterback David Rasmussen made his season debut a one to remember, passing for 305 yards and four touchdowns, including a 99-yarder, to lead Kalani over Waialua, 27-0, in Oahu Interscholastic Association White football at Kaiser stadium."We had a feeling because the we knew the safety was going to cheat over," Rasmussen said of his slotback being wide open over the middle on the 99-yard pass, which, at the least, ties a state record.Rasmussen, a transfer from Roosevelt and who did not play in the nonleague game against Kapaa two weeks ago, completed 20 of 33 passes to help the Falcons (1-1 overall, 1-0 OIA White) win for the second time in their last three games; they won their season finale against Nanakuli last year. He tossed three of his TDs to Gavin Kim, a Saint Louis transfer, the last being the 99-yarder. His other TD went to Lorenzo Reeves, a transfer from Kaiser.Kim and Reeves each had seven receptions; Kim totaled 168 yards and Reeves 54.Kalani offensive coordinator Ron Lee said Rasmussen still needs to "work the kinks out, but he hit (his receivers) when he had to."Shane Ra, a linebacker, started at QB against Kapaa. He passed for 265 yards and three TDs in the 27-26 nonleague loss."We needed a linebacker," Lee said of switching Ra back to linebacker. "He's really a team guy. He played middle linebacker and did a fine job tonight."Ra had an apparent 66-yard interception return for a TD nullified by a roughing the passer penalty. Although the Bulldogs retained the ball and moved to the Falcons' 25 after the penalty, they still failed to score when Thomas Pule's 43-yard field goal try went wide left.Defensively, it was the Falcons' first shutout since Sept. 22, 2000 in a 20-0 win at Waialua.Christopher Gervacio accounted for 195 of his team's 215 yards. He led the Bulldogs (0-2, 0-2) in passing with 125 yards and rushing with 70.
