Three Hawai'i players projected in top 400 of MLB draft

Three Hawai'i high school players are ranked in Baseball America's top 500 prospects list for the upcoming Major League Baseball First-Year Player Draft, according to its website.

The list includes college players.

The draft runs June 6 to 8. The first two rounds will be held on June 6, rounds 3 to 10 on June 7 and rounds 11 to 40 on June 8.

Waiakea's catcher/infielder Kean Wong ranked highest among the three players. He was listed at 219, or somewhere in the seventh round.

Saint Louis catcher Iolana Akau was ranked 359, or about the 12th round and Mid-Pacific Institute catcher/outfielder Marcus Doi was at 388, or about the 13th round.

The projected rounds already account for supplemental picks in the first three rounds.

All three are signed with the University of Hawai'i.
