Tyler Taumua rushed for 216 yards -- including 181 in the first half -- and three touchdowns on 25 carries yesterday to help Farrington roll past 'Iolani, 42-7, at the Raiders' Eddie Hamada Field.

The Governors, tied at No. 4 in the ScoringLive Power Rankings, improved to 2-0 with its second straight interleague victory. Ninth-ranked 'Iolani, the four-time defending Division II state champion, fell to 1-1.
Taumua scored on runs of 1, 17 and 2 yards in the first half as Farrington took a 36-7 lead into the locker room. That came after the Govs turned the ball over on their first two plays from scrimmage -- with Raiders defensive back Kyle Pang coming up with an interception and a fumble recovery.
But 'Iolani turned it right back over two plays later, as Aaron Kamau made an interception at his own 33-yard line. This time Farrington capitalized, marching 67 yards in eight plays, capped by Tavale Masalomalo's 1-yard touchdown plunge with 7:41 remaining in the first quarter. Keanu Foki's extra point made it 7-0.
The Raiders went three-and-out on their ensuing series and then shanked a 10-yard punt, giving the Governors possession near midfield.
Farrington again needed only eight plays to score, with a 1-yard run by Taumua pushing the lead to 13-0 with 3:47 left in the first quarter. The PAT attempt was wide left.
'Iolani responded with a 10-play, 68-yard drive culminating in Kody Mento's 1-yard TD plunge on the first play of the second quarter. Jordan Lee's extra point closed it to 13-7.
But that would prove to be the Raiders' only scoring drive of the day, as the Govs' defense held 'Iolani's passing attack to just 71 yards and allowed only 155 yards of total offense.

"They mixed their coverages, they changed some things up front and they brought pressure," Raiders coach Wendell Look said. "We couldn't get into a rhythm, and when we cannot get into a flow, we're in trouble. Against a physically superior team, you have to be able to set the tempo."
Farrington coach Randall Okimoto said 'Iolani's hurry-up spread offense presented a challenge.
"We're not used to the up-tempo, so we tried to prepare all week," Okimoto said. "All that time in summer pass league practices helped, too, playing seven-on-seven."
The Governors' offense, meanwhile, picked up steam and never cooled off.
Running behind a massive line featuring center Michael Boyd (6 feet, 290 pounds), guards Mitchell Boyd (6-1, 314) and Colin Ka'alele (6-2, 361) and tackles AJ White (6-1, 297) and Charles Sataraka (6-1, 326), Taumua and fellow running backs Masalosalo and Abraham Silva gobbled up chunks of yardage and broke numerous tackles once in the secondary.
"We had people in position, but we didn't make the plays," Look said.
Sophomore defensive lineman Jonah Wataru (6-3, 255) is the biggest player on 'Iolani's roster and the only one who weighs more than 240.
Taumua rambled 17 yards for his second touchdown barely three minutes into the second quarter, and Travis Tamapua's two-point conversion run made it 21-7. Taumua added a 7-yard TD run with 3:34 remaining in the half, and Tamapua's two-point conversion pass to Toma Barrett made it 29-7.
The Raiders threatened on their next series, reaching Farrington's 23-yard line, but a pass on a crossing pattern went for only two yards on fourth-and-4 and the Govs needed just four plays to score again, this time on Tamapua's 12-yard pass to Barrett. Foki's extra point made it 36-7 with 17 seconds before halftime.
Silva finished with 145 yards on just 15 rushes and Farrington amassed 510 yards in total offense, 443 on the ground.
