Kitamura Tournament to open Wednesday


The 33rd Mid-Pacific Institute/Richard Kitamura Baseball Tournament starts Wednesday at various sites around Oahu.

In Pool B games Wednesday, Kaiser visits host MPI; Waianae takes on Waimea at Central Oahu Regional Park, field 4; and 'Iolani plays Roosevelt at Stevenson Middle. Starting times are 4 p.m. Also, Laguna Beach (Calif.) will play Maui, 7 p.m. at COPR, field 4.

In Pool A openers Thursday, all at 4 p.m., Kalani travels to Mililani; Waipahu plays Saint Louis at CORP, field 4; Moanalua hosts Leilehua; and Castle battles 'Aiea at 'Aiea Recreation Center.

Each pool's semifinals are on Friday at sites to be determined based on the winners of the opening round games. Pool A's championship is 3 p.m. Saturday at MPI, while Pool B's championship is 3 p.m. Saturday at Moanalua.

The pool champions meet for the overall title at 3 p.m. Sunday at MPI. The consolation championship is at 9 a.m. and the third-place game is at noon, both at MPI.
