KAISER - Three transfer players for Mililani combined to score four goals as the Trojans rolled past Campbell, 5-1, on a muddy Thursday night. With the victory, Mililani moves on to play in the OIA Red championship game.

"I thought we did pretty well," said Trojans coach Jeff Yamamoto. "Biggest concern was playing on this field."

Mililani got on the board first early in the first half. Chris Galang, a junior transfer from California, took a low shot past the keeper to put the score at 1-0 during the 7th minute of play.

"(Winning) meant a lot," said Galang. "I know this is my first year here so it was a great win for the school."

The Trojans showed off their prolific passing attack on their next surge down the field. A beautiful series of seven one touch passes ended with shot and a goal by senior Ryan Carlomany. His goal put the score at 2-0 during the 17th minute. Carlomany transferred from the mainland during his sophomore year to Mililani.

Carlomany is the Trojans leading goal scorer this season.

A connection off a cross put the Trojans next score on the board. Senior Kalen Niimi found Pearl City transfer Tyler Braunthal inside the 18 yard box. A volley into the back of the net by the senior put the Trojans up by three in the 20th minute.

"We really played well tonight," said Braunthal."I'm ecstatic. This is my first championship. First time playing on (TV) in front of a large crowd."

The score was 3-0 going into halftime.

Mililani continued to light up the score board during the second half. Five minutes into the second period, Galang found the back of the once more.

Galang created more highlights as he assisted the next and final Trojan goal. An in-direct kick taken by Galang linked with the head of senior Preston Derige, who finished the ball into the back of the net with a header.

The Derige score came during the 67th minute of play.

"I thought I did well," said Galang. "The field is very hard to play on. It's very to look for touches and look for passes but overall I thought I did alright."

Campbell was able to finally get on the board during the 73rd minute of the second period. A penalty kick taken 25-yards outside the 18 yard box sailed just over the keepers head.

"Campbell played phenomenal," said Yamamoto."Got to give them props."

Mililani will look to repeat as they play Friday for the OIA Red division championship against Kapolei, a 1-0 winner over Pearl City.
