Findlay Prep (Las Vegas, NV), No. 1 in USA Today's Super 25, held off a feisty Coolidge squad (Washington, D.C.) 73-63 in Thursday's nightcap of the 'Iolani Classic.

Findlay forward Gavin Schilling led the Pilots with 26 points, most of it coming from the paint. Christian Wood chipped in 22 points and Nigel Williams-Goss added 11.

Everette Coker led Coolidge with 19 points before fouling out and Shaquille James added 16 points including 2 three pointers.

Findlay jumped out to a 9-2 lead early in the first quarter. Coolidge cut the lead with a pair of three pointers from Everette Coker and Shaquille James to bring the Colts within 5, 15-10. A shot by Coker would tie the game at 19 all at the end of the first quarter.

In the second quarter, Coolidge took the lead when James found Coker for a fast break lay up, putting the Colts up 23-22. Findlay forward Gavin Schilling answered with a jump shot to give the Pilots the lead, 24-23. Schilling played big as he scored in the post and ran down to block a Colts' fastbreak lay up.

The Pilots led at halftime, 36-29.

In the third quarter, Coolidge cut the deficit to 4, 39-35. Following a tip-in by Christian Wood, the Pilots called a full time out. After the time out, Nigel Williams-Goss hit a three pointer from the right side. Off a steal, Williams-Goss found Wood down the middle for a two-handed dunk to extend the Pilots lead to eleven, 47-36.

Coker made four of Coolidge's points before the quarter ended. Off the Coolidge inbounds, he made a buzzer beating lay up to bring the Colts within nine, 51-42.

In the fourth quarter, Coolidge fought back to trim the Findlay's lead. Kory Cooley hit a three pointer and Coker found a cutting David Kadiri for a dunk. Omar Roberts passed it to Nijee Britton for a lay up, cutting Findlay's lead to five, 58-53.

Williams-Goss missed a free throw, but Schilling cleaned it up with a put back, pushing the lead back up to six, 61-55.

Coolidge guard Trayvaughn Newell stole the ball and laid it up, bringing the Colts within 4, with 3:13 remaining.

However, Williams-Goss found Schilling and he made the lay up after getting fouled, 64-57.

On the next possession, Williams-Goss passed it to Wood for a dunk to push the lead back up to nine, 66-57.

Coolidge guard Omar Roberts drove middle and was fouled as he made the lay up. His free throw made it, 66-60 and the Colts called a time out.

The Pilots were able to break Coolidge's full court press and Schilling rebounded the miss and put it back to give the Findlay some breathing room, 68-60.

The Colts could not hit three pointers and jump shots down the stretch and Findlay sealed the game with free throws.

Coolidge plays John Carroll at 5 pm while Findlay advances to play Montrose at 8 pm.
