Defending Prep Classic champion Montrose Christian got one step closer to a title defense with a 43-28 win over John Carroll.

Jordan Swopshire led the way with 17 points, including four three-pointers and Mark Williams added 14 points as the Mustangs led 18-11 at the half.

John Carroll got 12 points from Rodney Elliot in the defeat.

Montrose will face Findlay Prep, a 73-63 winner over Coolidge, in an 8:00 p.m. semifinal Friday.
