Damien notched a key win to end its regular season campaign, squeezing past Hawaii Baptist, 39-36, securing the third seed in the upcoming ILH Division II single elimination tournament in the process.
The victory marked the third straight for the Monarchs, who took down Mid-Pacific and University Lab last week to level their record at 6-6 and took care of the Eagles to sport a winning record heading into the postseason.
Seniors Kenna Wengler and Kiana Cueto both hit for double figures in the win for Damien, the fourth straight game with at least 10 points for Wengler, but only the first time in five games for Cueto, who hit for 17 back on Jan. 5 against Hanalani.
Lauren Okuda and Terra Kawamoto led the Eagles with 10 points each in defeat.
Both teams begin postseason play next week, dates and times still to be determined.
