Sabers, Na Menehune to meet in OIA semifinal round Monday

Moanalua, Campbell, Mililani and Castle have punched their tickets to the state tournament. 

The Oahu Interscholastic Association's four semifinalists have locked up two-thirds of the league's berths in next month's New City Nissan/HHSAA Division I State Championships. 

Moanalua, the No. 4 team in the ScoringLive Power Rankings, defeated Waipahu in four sets, while fifth-ranked Mililani swept past Kalani in its quarterfinal match Thursday night. Also, No. 9 Campbell defeated Roosevelt in four sets, while No. 10 Castle held off Aiea in four sets to set-up the final four in the OIA tournament. 

In the doubleheader at Moanalua Thursday, the Sabers, who are seeded second out of the Western Division, topped East third-seeded Roosevelt 25-22, 25-21, 19-25 and 25-21, while East top-seeded Na Menehune beat the West No. 4 seed Marauders 25-20, 22-25, 25-11 and 25-12. 

Over at Mililani, the No. 2 seed out of the East, Castle, beat West No. 3 seed Na Alii 25-21, 25-19, 24-26 and 25-20 before the West No. 1 seeded Trojans cruised past the East fourth-seeded Falcons 25-17, 25-20 and 25-14. 

Monday's semifinals will feature Moanalua (12-0) taking on Campbell (10-1) at 5:30 p.m. and Mililani (11-0) meeting Castle (11-1) to follow. Both matches will take place at Radford's Jim Alegre Gymnasium. 

Waipahu (7-5) will play Roosevelt (9-4) and Kalani (8-5) will meet Aiea (8-4) in a consolation doubleheader Monday at Aiea. The winners will secure the OIA's final two state tournament berths.
