Four different Braves scored in double figures as St. John Bosco (Bellflower, California) rolled past Iolani, 71-40 in the quarterfinal round of the Iolani Classic.

Brandon McCoy, the 24/7 Sports second ranked prospect in the 2026 class, led the MaxPreps ninth-ranked Braves with 17 points, four rebounds, two steals and a block.

6-foot-6 wing Kade Bonam added 13 and 6-5 Elzie Harrington chipped in 10 and six boards. Jack Turner drained four 3-pointers and finished with 16 points off the bench.

Bosco, who is making their first trip to the islands on the hardwood, advances to face Christ the King (Middle Village, New York) in Thursday's semifinal nightcap at 8 p.m.

That game follows the other semifinal matchup between Oak Ridge (Orlando, Florida) and DeMatha Catholic (Hyattsville, Maryland) at 6:30 p.m.

The Braves raced out to an 8-0 lead following transition dunks from Chris Komin and McCoy. Kaleb Tenn got the Raiders on the scoreboard at the 5:01 mark in the first quarter off a reverse layup. Bosco followed up with a 9-0 run before Ayden Goo hit a 3-pointer.

Goo led the Raiders with 13 points off the bench and made three triples. Nela Taliauli led the starters with eight points and Mana Lau Kong had seven.

"It's definitely going to be big having a sharp shooter off the bench," Taliauli said. "The sixth man is usually the fiery guy and Aydan is that guy. Aiden (Wong) is a solid point guard, he's going to find us and Mana is a dawg and will figure it out."

Taliauli was injured in the first game of last year's Classic and missed the entire season. He embraced the moment as a senior.

"It was a great opportunity, we took advantage of it. Obviously we didn't get off to the start we wanted to, but it is what it is, but we picked it up in the second half," Taliauli said.

McCoy wowed the crowd by converting an alley oop, Harrington had a reverse and Bonam flushed it for two to go up by as much as 27 in the second quarter.

Luke Tobin added a putback as Iolani trailed, 37-12 at halftime.

"In the first half, we had a bad start. Went into the locker room at halftime. He (Ryan Hirata) talked to us, we knew it was going to be a slow start against a good team, the main point was to improve and try to get better," Taliauli said.

The Braves built a 37-point lead following McCoy's dunk heading into the fourth.

Bosco outscored Iolani 34 to 28 in the second half and the Raiders showed some fight and outscored the Braves, 19 to 13 in the final quarter.

"We adjusted obviously too late, but the second half score was 34 to 28. As long as we get better, we're fine with it," Taliauli said.

Taliauli scored off a steal and layup and hit two free throws. Jackson Dempster converted a 3-point play, and Goo scored seven points in the fourth quarter.

"To be honest, just team chemistry. We got a young team," said Taliauli, one of six seniors on the roster. "A lot of the guys never played, got some rookies that got in tonight."

Iolani drops to face Pace Academy (Atlanta, Georgia) at 5 p.m.

Bosco's football team is no stranger to the islands and made a trip to Oahu and lost 30-23 to three-time defending state champion Kahuku on Sept. 16. The Braves beat Saint Louis, 63-14 in 2014.

Oak Ridge holds off Vashon in quarterfinal nightcap

Oak Ridge (Orlando, Florida) had to hold off scrappy Vashon (St. Louis, Missouri), 60-56, to reach the semifinal round.

Tyler Johnson led the Pioneers with 17 points and hit nine of his 10 free throws. Jamier Jones added 12 and Cameron Simpson scored all 15 points off five 3-pointers off the bench.

Christian Williams led the Wolverines with 17 points and three triples and Trey Williams, Jr., Dehrio McCaskill, and Nassir Binion each added 10 points as Vashon drops to play The Master's Academy (Oviedo, Florida) on Thursday at 3:30 p.m.

Oak Ridge makes their second appearance in the Iolani Classic since 2018.

The Pioneers raced out to a 15-point lead in the second quarter, but the Wolverines clawed back to get within four after Williams Jr.'s free throws.

Simpson answered with a 3-pointer and Johnson converted a pair of free throws to go up, 29-20.

Oak Ridge pushed the lead to 12 in the third and McCaskill stuffed the alley oop lob to get Vashon within seven but trailed, 45-36 going into the fourth.

The Pioneers went up by 10 but the Wolverines got hot with a 7-0 run and got within following Williams, Jr.'s shot.

Jordan Tilery and Jalen Reece combined to shoot 1 for 4 from the free throw line and capitalized on Vashon's errant passes to seal the win.
