Moanalua coasted by visiting Farrington in two sets, 25-7, 25-12, on Senior Night. With only four seniors, the Na Menehune are a relatively young team."I think they did really well and an incredible job off the serve. I think they were steady all the way to the end. They do play well together and it's still early in the season, but they are still struggling on the communication portion. Overall, I thought they played well tonight," said Moanalua head coach Alan Cabanting. In the first set, the Na Menehune took advantage of Farrington net violations to go up, 14-4. Moanalua would take advantage of more Farrington miscues to go up, 23-5."Usually its us making the errors, we are a young group and we are usually the ones making those kind of errors," said Coach Cabanting. The set ended, 25-7 after Farrington was called for a substitution error and Moanalua was awarded a point. In the second set, Moanalua continued its dominance and went up 9-2 after a kill from Karson Cruz, prompting Farrington to call timeout. Moanalua went up by 10, 17-7 after a service ace by Zachary Kagehiro. Austin Matautia and Tahi Caldwell added kills to extend the lead to 21-8. Austin Amian ended the match with his second service ace.Tahi Caldwell spoke about the youth on Na Menehune's roster and what the role he ahd his four fellow seniors have on the squad."We were working really hard this week, I can't credit myself because my teammates helped me out progress and win the game. We have a lot of new freshmen and Zarin (Augustiro) and I have to be verbal and be confidence boosters. I think it starts in practice and we have to come together and we will grow as a team," said Caldwell. The Na Menehune defeated Kailua earlier this evening and improved to 5-1 in the OIA Red East. Farrington who also defeated Kailua in the match before this one, remains on top in the OIA White East.
