Noa led Punahou's high-flying passing attack




In a battle showcasing No. 3 and No. 4, it was No. 9 that stole the spotlight.

Punahou wide receiver Kanawai Noa electrified a crowd of about 4,500 at Hawaii Airlines Field at Aloha Stadium with regularity, pulling down a game-high 198 yards on 8 receptions, three of them for touchdowns, in third-ranked Punahou's dominating 43-14 win over fourth-ranked Saint Louis.

The sophomore wide receiver, who dons the number 9 jersey, currently leads all Division I pass catchers statistically with 719 yards and 10 touchdowns.

"Well, its not really an individual effort, its a team effort" said Noa. "Without my quarterback or my line, I wouldn't be doing the things that we are right now."

As a team, the Buffanblu certainly had all cylinders firing against the Cruasders, encapsulated by the first play from scrimmage in the second quarter, as Punahou QB Tui Tuileta would connect with a streaking Noa along the right sideline for a gorgeous 67-yard touchdown, on a play that looked to be an overthrown ball intended for another Buffanblu reciever.

"The players executed really well today (against Saint Louis) and when the line is clicking everything else can click." remarked Tuileta, who completed 21-of-26 passes for 368 yards and four touchdowns in the win.

And the Tuileta-to-Noa tandem would click two more times on the evening, the first on a 1-yarder for a second score late in the third quarter, and the other with 6:41 left in the contest on a 44-yard deep ball.

Baldwin QB Keelan Ewaliko threw for 101 yards and 2 TDs and rushed for 176 yards and 3 TDs against Kamehameha-Maui.

Kaiser RB Fitou Fisiiahi rushed for 33 yards and 3 TDs against Nanakuli.

Baldwin RB Dusty Flores rushed for 141 yards and 2 TDs against Kamehameha-Maui.

Kaiser RB Kai Gonda rushed for 95 yards and a TD and added 3 receptions for 60 yards against Nanakuli.

Leilehua QB Justin Jenks threw for 275 yards and 3 TDs against Kapolei.

Kealakehe RB Lennox Jones had 3 rushing TDs against Hilo.

Kamehameha-Hawaii WR Shaun Kagawa rushed for 97 yards and a TD against Hawaii Prep.

Waianae RB Alakai Kealoha rushed for 118 yards against Campbell.

Konawaena QB Lii Karratti threw for 303 yards and 6 TDs against Kohala.

Anuenue RB Kainalu Kaleo rushed for 170 yards and 2 TDs against Pearl City.

Kalani PK Leo Klink hit field goals of 41 and 20 yards and made all 4 of extra point attempts against Roosevelt.

Hawaii Prep RB Bobby Lum rushed for 133 yards against Kamehameha-Hawaii.

Farrington DB David Luafatasaga had 2 interceptions against McKinley.

Radford QB Cody Lui-Yuen threw for 369 yards and 6 TDs against Waialua.
