Kauinana services to be held on June 26

A celebration of life will be held for former Mililani High School athletic director John Kauinana on Sunday, June 26 at the stadium named after him on the Central Oahu campus. There will be a reception from 4 p.m. to 5 p.m. and a program to follow.

Trojans' athletic director Glenn Nitta said part of the program will include a on-field parade of former and current student-athletes in honor of Kauinana, who spent nearly 30 years as a coach and AD before his retirement in 2002.

Kauinana, who battled complications from a knee surgery several months ago, died on June 7. He was 65 years old.
