Wily's second-half performance helps Kahuku

In one half, Kahuku running back Aofaga Wily did what most would do in a full game.

Wily rushed for 225 yards and three touchdowns to help the host Red Raiders beat Punahou, 21-13, in a non-league prep football game Saturday night.

Trailing the Buffanblu, 13-0, at the half, the Red Raiders stormed out, scoring on their first two series of the second half. Wily scored on runs of 48 and 28 yards. His third TD of the half was from 22 yards out in the fourth quarter. He tallied 171 yards in the second half.

"I give it (credit) to my O-line, fullback and receivers," Wily said.

The Red Raiders, in fact, had a field day on the ground. Wily got his yardage because he had the most carries. Fullback T.J. Liua had 50 yards on eight rushes, while backup tailback Soli Afalava had 45 yards on four carries.

"It was our first game," Wily said of his team's slow start in the first half. "Second half, we knew we had to pick it up and we did."

The O'ahu Interscholastic Association Red season starts this weekend, but the Red Raiders have a bye and don't' play until Aug. 31 when they host Kailua.
