Punahou tops Kamehameha to win fifth straight


  



Punahou continued its dominance of state water polo with a 6-3 victory over ILH rival Kamehameha winning its fifth straight title at the Stanford Carr Development Girls Water Polo State Championships at Duke Kahanamoku Aquatic Complex.

The Buffanblu, who led 5-2 after the first period, got three goals from Sabrina Shibata, and a goal each from Colleen Fricke, Turner Wong and Lauren Boyer.

Kiana Yamashiro scored 2 goals to lead Kamehameha.

Since the inception of the state water polo championships in 2004, Punahou has claimed all but two titles, with Kamehameha winning in 2006 and 'Iolani in 2007.
