Mid-Pacific Institute scored nine runs in the final three innings yesterday to surge to a 12-4 Interscholastic League of Honolulu baseball victory at 'Iolani.

The Owls improved to 3-0 in the ILH, a half-game behind first-place Punahou (4-0). The Raiders fell to 2-2.

MPI starter Travis Garcia-Perriera put in six innings of work, allowing two runs on six hits, striking out five with no walks to earn the win. He also went 2 for 3 with a double and RBI.

The Owls took a 2-0 first-inning lead before 'Iolani scored three runs in the second. Mid-Pacific then tied it with a single run in the fourth and then took a 6-3 lead with three runs in the fifth and broke it open with a four-run sixth to make it 10-3.   

Leadoff batter Nik Alarcio went 3-for-4 with three RBIs, Bryce Asato went 2 for 4 with an RBI, Dylan Oda and Brent Sakurai each added a double with two RBIs and Marcus Doi had a double and two runs scored.

Austin Darmawan went 2 for 4 and Christian Donahue drove in two runs to lead the Raiders.
