Fairfax (Los Angeles) opened up game with a 12-1 scoring run and closed the first half with a 17-4 spurt yesterday en route to a 65-30 victory over Kahuku in the opening round of the 28th Annual 'Iolani Prep Classic.

Fairfax advances to tomorrow's 6:30 p.m. quarterfinal vs. Bishop O'Dowd; Kahuku will play Kamehameha-Hawai'i at noon in tomorrow's consolation bracket.

After a free throw by Kawe Johnson cut the lead to 17-12 midway through the second period, Taj Adams answered with a layup to start the Lions on a 17-4 run to end the half. Johnson drained a 3-pointer to cut it to 38-23 with 6:22 remaining in the third period, but a short turnaround jumper by Adams sparked a 14-0 run that put the game away.

Adams and Reggie Theus Jr. each scored 13 points to lead Fairfax, with Ronny Price adding 12 points and Landon Drew chipping in with 11 points.

Johnson led the Red Raiders with 12 points.
