Iolani, Mililani notch straight set wins, will face off in semifinals


 



No. 8 Mililani roars past No. 7 Baldwin to reach semis

No. 8 Mililani proved to be too much for fourth seed and No. 7 Baldwin in the New City Nissan/HHSAA Girls Volleyball State Championships quarterfinals. The set scores were 25-23, 25-14, 25-16.

The win catapults the Trojans into the semifinals and will face top seed Iolani.

The Bears drop to the consolation bracket to take on Kapolei.

Alexis Rodriguez hit .333 for the match to finish with a team-high 15 kills and added eight digs. Anae Asuncion passed out 35 assists, Erica Roberts had 10 kills and LC Nakagawa had 17 digs.

Amanda Naipo had 12 kills and twin sister Ariana Naipo added 11 kills in the loss. Lilinoe Paschoal had 21 assists and six digs in the loss.

No. 1 Iolani storms past Kapolei into semifinals

Top-seed and No. 1 Iolani swept Kapolei, 25-10, 25-13, 25-13 in the New City Nissan/HHSAA Division I Girls Volleyball State Championship quarterfinals at Moanalua's gymnasium Wednesday.

Iolani advances to the semifinals to face No. 8 Mililani in the 7 pm night cap at Moanalua.

Senna Roberts-Navarro led the Interscholastic League of Honolulu champions with 15 kills on 34 attempts to hit .382 for the match. She also had eight digs and three aces.

Brooke Naniseni added nine kills and Eryn Hiraki with seven as the Raiders hit .238 for the match. Maya Imoto-Eakin dished out 30 assists and Tessa Onaga had a team-high 19 digs for Iolani.

Malinah Purcell-Telefoni led the Hurricanes with eight kills and had six digs and three total blocks. Shayla Lacamiento finished with 26 assists and Henua Moefu and Leila Paraoan each had six kills in the loss.

The Hurricanes drop to the consolation bracket to face Baldwin at McKinley.
