Kauai (7-2-2) 1 0 - - - 1

Scoring opportunities were few for the Kauai girls soccer team Friday afternoon, but the team made the most of it.

Coral Turner's high-arching shot from long distance in the 14th minute was just above the reach of the opposing keeper as the top-seeded Red Raiders got past Kamehameha-Hawaii, 1-0, in the semifinals of the NIU Health Urgent Care Division II Girls Soccer Championships at the Waipio Peninsula Soccer Complex stadium.

Kauai, who had just two shot attempts in each half, will try for its first-ever state title when it meets second-seeded PAC-5 in a 5 p.m. championship match Saturday at Radford's John E. Velasco Stadium.

The Warriors had more shots on goal than Kauai, with 12 total, but keeper Jaeda Planas was solid in the goal with seven total saves. Center backs Kaleionahe Bukoski and Keira Caogas were also key in the strong defensive effort.
