The Queen's Medical Center Division II Girls Soccer Championships got underway Wednesday afternoon at Waipio Peninsula Soccer Complex.

KS-Hawaii, Waianae, Kapaa and Waimea all came away victorious in the opening round to advance to Thursday's quarterfinals.

The Warriors from Hawaii island, who were the D2 state runner-ups in the previous two state tournaments, will meet third-seeded Mid-Pacific after a 6-0 win over Radford in the first round.

Chenoa Frederick got things going for KS-Hawaii with a goal in the opening minute. Kastle Lyman notched a goal in the 10th minute to help the Warriors take a 2-0 lead into the break.

The score would remain at 2-0 until the Warriors scored four goals in a span of 10 minutes. Nanea Wong Yuen scored the first goal of the second half in the 60th minute, which was followed by another score from Lyman in the following minute.

Tabitha Pacheco and Wong Yuen notched goals in the 68th and 69th minute respectively to round out KS-Hawaii's scoring.

The Seariders bested their district rival Nanakuli, the OIA runner-up, in a 2-1 win. The victory propelled Waianae into the next round against second-seeded Kauai.

Talitha Melendres scored in the 33rd and 35th minute to lead the Seariders against the Golden Hawks. Lexus Kotrys scored in the 61st minute to avoid a shutout for Nanakuli.

The two KIF teams that won on Wednesday did it in games that were not decided in regulation.

Tori Ishikawa scored in the first minute of the second overtime period to lead Kapaa in a 1-0 win over Seabury Hall as the Warriors will play fourth-seeded Kalaheo in the quarterfinals.

The Menehunes, who finished KIF play in third place bested Sacred Hearts in a shootout to advance to play top-seeded Hawaii Prep on Thursday.

Jaidah Ahuna scored in the 17th minute to give Waimea a 1-0 lead at the half, but goals by Alena Schenk in the 65th minute and 75th minute put Sacred Hearts in the lead. Jenessa Freitas also scored in the 75th minute to tie the game for Waimea.

After two scoreless overtime periods, the Menehunes won the shootout, 3-1, to advance with a 3-2 win.
