Now that's how you celebrate senior night.
No. 1 Maryknoll outscored No. 2 Iolani in every period for a 65-47 win Tuesday night at Tony Sellitto Court at Clarence T. C. Ching Gymnasium.
The win put the Spartans in prime position to win the ILH Division I first-round title as they currently boast a 9-1 league record with just two games left in the first round. Winning the first round locks up one of three state berths that the ILH gets into the Snapple D1 Boys Basketball Championships.
The next two teams in the standings, Iolani (7-3) and Punahou (7-3), both play each other and would need Maryknoll to lose its next two games against Mid-Pacific (3-7) and Kamehameha (1-8) to force a playoff for the first-round title.
Kalai Akaka scored 16 points and Makoto Kamata added 14 more to power the Spartans in their Tuesday win.
Wesley Yamada had 10 points to lead the Raiders in the loss.
