Damien made quick work of Pearl City for a straight set win in the opening round of the New City Nissan/HHSAA Division II Girls Volleyball Championships at Kaimuki's Gymnasium Wednesday night.

Junior outside hitter Shelby Capllonch put down 19 kills with six digs and four aces to power the Monarchs to a 25-12, 25-9, 25-15 win.

The Monarchs move on to take on Seabury Hall, the Maui Interscholastic League Division II champion, in the quarterfinals on Thursday.
