EWA BEACH – Cieana Curran's solo home run in the bottom of the fourth inning snapped a 3-all game and No. 1 Campbell hung on to beat visiting Leilehua, 7-6, Tuesday in Oahu Interscholastic Association Western Division softball.
The Sabers (2-0) saw their early 2-0 lead disappear in the Mules' three-run third that was highlighted by a two-run home run by Brandi Leong. Campbell tied the game at 3 with a run in the bottom of the third.
After Curran's homer in the fourth, the Sabers added three more in the fifth, the big blow coming on Darien Robinson's two-run home run.
Leilehua (0-2) made the game interesting with a three-run top of the seventh against Campbell starter Elisa Favela.
Favela pitched the distance, allowing six runs and 10 hits, but walking none and striking out seven.
Leilehua losing pitcher Chasity Stalcup gave up seven runs, 10 hits and a walk while striking out three.
Favela helped her own cause at the plate batting 3 for 3 with three RBI and two doubles. Batterymate Jocelyn Alo batted 3 for 4 with three doubles.
