The brackets for this week's New City Nissan/Hawaii High School Atheltic Association Girls Volleyball State Championships were released Sunday morning.
Interscholastic League of Honolulu champion Iolani (15-2) is the top seed in the Division I tournament. Moanalua (14-0) is the second seed followed by King Kekaulike (13-2) and Waiakea (15-3). All four top seeds have a first-round bye.
Wednesday's opening round will have doubleheaders at two sites. At McKinley, Kamehameha-Maui (12-3) meets Kalaheo (11-4) at 5 p.m., followed by Kahuku (12-2) and Leilehua (9-4) at 7 p.m. At Moanalua, Kamehameha-Hawaii (13-6) faces Kapolei (10-4) at 5 p.m. with Kamehameha (13-5) and Mililani (11-2) squaring off in the nightcap.
Two-time defending state champion Konawaena (19-0) drew the No. 1 seed in the Division II tournament. Seabury Hall 12-0) is seeded second, Hawaii Baptist (10-3) third and Farrington (9-5) fourth.
First-round matches will feature Hana (8-3) taking on Le Jardin (8-5) at 5 p.m. followed by Kapaa (11-3) and University (9-3) at 7 p.m. at Kaimuki and Kailua (9-4) facing Pahoa (8-11) at 5 p.m. and Hawaii Prep (9-10) meetings Damien (7-7) at 7 p.m. at Farrington.
