Stone Parker threw four innings of no-hit baseball and Kailua put the game out of reach in the fifth inning with six big runs en route to a 13-9 win over Kalani at Kahala Field.

Parker, a freshman right hander, walked the first two batters he faced, but eventually found his rhythm, holding the Falcons hitless in his four innings of work with a mix of fastballs and curveballs. He walked two and struck out two to earn the win.

"I tried to focus on strikes and on my mechanics," said Parker. "(I kept) my fastball low and used my curveball to finish them off. That really worked for me."

Offensively, Matt Hanano opened Kailua's account in top of the game's opening inning, scoring on a fielder choice off a hard hit ball by Dalton Kalama. Kalani countered in the bottom half of the first with a run of its own, as Justin Ibara tagged up and touched home off of a deep fly ball by Reece Kakugawa.

The visiting Surfriders added a run in the second off a hard-hit ground ball double into right by Kalei Machado that brought home Kila Thomas, and two more in the third off a two-RBI single by Noah Auld.

Six more runners touched home plate in the top of the fifth, where fourKalani pitchers took the mound in an inning where Kailua parlayed three hits and three walks into a commanding 10-1 lead.

For the game, the 1-2-3 punch of Hanano, Imanaka and Odo accounted for 6 of the 11 Surfriders' hits and 5 of the team's total run production.

"Main thing they get on base and let the other guys do the hitting," said Kailua head coach Corey Ishigo. "So far this year they've been getting on for us."

Auld, who bats in the five hole and Machado, the eighth batter in the lineup, each batted 2-for-3 on the afternoon, and drove in a total of 5 runs between them.

Cody Takabuki came on in relief of Parker in the fifth inning, and allowed just one run despite some struggles on the mound thanks to some key defensive plays behind him, including a nice throw from Dalton Kalama to thwart an attempt to steal third by Matthew Beall.

The Kailua offense continued to roll, adding three more runs in the sixth, highlighted by a line shot by Brendan Odo that rocketed over the centerfielder's head for extra bases.

"I thought he was going to catch it at first," said Odo of his hit, "but I saw it go over his and I thought I'd better get going."

Odo did just that, turning on the afterburners around third, sliding into home plate just ahead of the throw for a home run.

The Falcons put together a mini-rally In the bottom of the sixth, loading the bases on two hit batters and a walk, bringing on the third pitcher of the game for the Surfriders in Kila Thomas. After walking the next batter for one run and surrending a seeing-eye single for another, Kailua's defense came up with a key double play before Thomas finally retired the side with a strike out.

To the home teams' credit, Kalani made it interesting down to the final out, rallying for four runs on single followed by a pair of Kailua fielding errors to get right back in it. The rally would be short lived as the Surfriders made a switch on the mound to Dustin Imanaka, who got the next batter, Hunter Lau, to ground out to first to end it.

"We just needed to get some guys some work on the mound," said Ishigo. "They didn't throw strikes, and those things happen if you're wild."
