Atesia Norton batted 4 for 4 with four RBI to back the one-hit pitching of Kamalani Dung and Kamehameha thumped 'Iolani, 13-0, in Interscholastic League of Honolulu softball Monday at Ala Wai Field.

The game was called after five innings because of the 10-run differential mercy rule, as the Warriors (7-0) stayed unbeaten, while the Raiders (3-4) fell below .500.

"Every game is a tough game," Warriors' coach Aloha Yamaguchi said. "We just came out ready to fire and play from the beginning. Our girls were ready to play from the start of the game and that's the main thing: They come out hard from start to finish."

Dung was at the top of her game, not allowing a hit until a one out single to Karley Devens, 'Iolani's ninth-place hitter, in the bottom of the fifth. Dung walked three, hit a batter and struck out five. She wasn't aware she was throwing a no-hitter. She was unaware that the Raiders had no hits entering the fifth.

"I didn't know," she said.

But Yamaguchi did.

"You never want to say anything or jinx anything until the game is over," Yamaguchi said. "But she's able to feel the game in ways that whatever is going to make her stay in her comfort zone. These kinds of games, we know Kamalani's going to do the job."

What Dung did know was that her teammates had her back.

"It was a whole team effort," Dung said. "The defense did good."

And the offense, too.

The visiting Warriors were on fire at the plate, lashing out 14 hits against three different 'Iolani pitchers. Every starter had at least one hit, except for Rachel Dumlao, who still contributed with a walk, stolen base and run scored.

Norton paced the attack two RBI singles, a solo home run and an RBI double. Katelyn Mahelona was 3 for 4 with three runs. Christine Hipa smoked a two-run homer to center in the Warriors' five-run fourth. Rachel Ogasawara had an RBI double and a sacrifice fly.

"I just looked for anything that came in and I just wanted to drive the ball to help out my team," said Norton, who bats cleanup. "Everybody was excited for this game. We were all looking forward to play 'Iolani. We just wanted to get up there and hit the ball hard."

The Warriors sent eight batters to the plate in a three-run first inning against 'Iolani starter Taylor Garcia-Perreira. They chased her out of the game in the second when Dumlao led off with a walk, stole second, went to third on a wild pitch and scored on Maelia Zablan's single.

But Robi Kodama didn't fare much better in the circle, as she got tagged for four runs and seven hits in two-plus innings. She gave up an RBI single to Norton in the second, an RBI double to Ogasawara in the third and then back-to-back homers to Hipa (a two-run shot) and Norton before giving way to Vevesi Liilii. But that didn't matter to the hot-hitting Warriors, who scored four runs off Liilii in two innings.

"Right now, the team is jelling good," Dung said. "I like this team."
