Pearl City sweeps HHSAA state bowling titles


Pearl City swept both the boys and girls team titles at the Billy Tees/HHSAA Bowling Championships held at Kauai Bowl in Lihue.

The Chargers' girls posted a total team pin fall of 7761, nearly 500 more than second place Mililani (7264). Punahou (7076) finished third, Hawaii Baptist (6807) fourth and Baldwin (6604) fifth.

On the boys side, Pearl City posted a team total of 8792 pins to top runner-up Mililani by a 878-pin margin. Hawaii Baptist (7854) came in third, followed by Kalani (7823) and Iolani (7593).

Mililani's Ronson Dagdag won the boys' indidivual title with a 1933 total pin fall, just 5 pins ahead of Island Pacific's Ian Shanks, and 23 ahead of Pearl City's Nicholas Azumi.

Leilehua's Kacee Taniyan had a 1700 total pin fall to take girls' individual crown, 28 pins better than Kapolei's Shaianne Yockman. Pearl City's Ashlyn-Rae Castro finished in third with a 1634 total pin fall.
