White tie-breaker clarified
How the White tie-breaker worked in the case of Kalaheo, Nanakuli and Pearl City, which all finished 5-3.
Head-to-head among the three teams is eliminated because each beat one, but not the other. So the next tie-breaker is based on wins against common opponents (in other words, the records of the teams each team beat).
Kalaheo beat: Kaiser 7-1, Nanakuli 5-3, Waialua 0-8, Anuenue 2-6 and Roosevelt 1-7. Their total records are 15-25.
Nanakuli beat: Pearl City 5-3, Kalani 4-4, Roosevelt 1-7, Waialua 0-8, Anuenue 2-6. Their total records are 12-28.
Pearl City beat: Roosevelt 1-7, Anuenue 2-6, Kalaheo 5-3, Waialua 0-8, Kalani 4-4. Their total records are 12-28.
On this tie-breaker, Kalaheo distinguished itself as the third seed because of the quality of their wins by their opponents. Each team beat an 0-8 team, a 1-7 team and a 2-6 team. Kalaheo beat 7-1 Kaiser, while Nanakuli and Pearl City each beat 4-4 Kalani. That was the difference.
Then the tie-breaker reverts back to head-to-head. Nanakuli beat Pearl City, so Nanakuli secures the fourth seed.
In the case of the three-way tie in the Red West with Kapolei, Waianae and Campbell, the Hurricanes beat Waianae and Campbell, so they were the third seed.
