West O'ahu reaches West Coast semifinals

The West O'ahu Baseball 18-and-under team advanced to the semifinals of the West Coast Finals tournament in Arizona before falling, 3-2, on June 26.

In its tournament opener, West O'ahu edged the Murrieta Valley (Calif.) Hurricanes, 2-1, with Chris Andreyka as the winning pitcher. In the second game, West O'ahu routed the Arizona Pilots, 15-5, with Sumi Pruett getting the win. That was followed by a 3-3 tie vs. the EXB Rangers, and then a 1-0 squeaker over the SoCal Bombers as Kaulana Wong got the victory.

In the quarterfinals, Pruett pitched a two-hitter as West O'ahu blanked PCH Baseball, 5-0. Arizona Pro then edged West O'ahu, 3-2,in the semifinals.

West O'ahu Baseball is a non-profit youth baseball organization with the team made up of players from around the island.
