Kamehameha denies AOP's league title bid, 46-45

Dyrbe Enos scored a game-high 18 points -- including both ends of a 1-and-1 with 13 seconds remaining -- to help Kamehameha squeeze past visiting Academy of the Pacific, 46-45, tonight in Interscholastic League of Honolulu boys basketball action.

The Warriors' victory, combined with Punahou's 56-43 win at 'Iolani, clinched the ILH championship for Punahou (10-1). Kamehameha improved to 6-4 while AOP fell to 7-3.

After Enos' two free throws, the Dolphins sped the ball downcourt and had a shot from close range but missed, and a follow-up attempt also missed and the Warriors grabbed the rebound and drew a foul with 0.8 ticks on the clock.

Kamehameha missed its free throw, but AOP could only manage a length-of-court desperation heave at the buzzer.

The Warriors led 10-7 after the first period but the Dolphins overtook them for a 26-19 halftime lead and stayed ahead, 36-35, after three quarters.

Austin Gerard added 11 points for Kamehameha.

Wilson MacLeod led AOP with 13 points.
