The top four seeds in the O'ahu Interscholastic Association baseball playoffs all advanced from yesterday's quarterfinals into today's semifinals.
Red Conference Eastern Division champion Kailua defeated West No. 4 seed Kapolei, 14-8, West champ Mililani blanked West No. 5 Campbell, 3-0, East runner-up Moanalua beat West No. 3 Leilehua, 8-1, and West runner-up Pearl City out-slugged Roosevelt, 12-5.
In today's 3:30 p.m. semifinals, Moanalua (11-1-1) travels to Mililani (10-3) and Pearl City (9-4) visits Kailua (12-0-1).
All four teams have secured state tournament berths.
In 3:30 p.m. elimination games today, Campbell (7-7) faces Leilehua (8-6) at Fred Wright Park and Kapolei (8-6) plays Roosevelt (8-6) at Stevenson Middle School. The winners will earn state tournament berths; the losers will be eliminated.
In White Conference first-round games yesterday, Radford defeated Kaimuki, 7-2, and Waialua beat Farrington, 7-4. In today's 3:30 p.m. semifinals, Radford (8-3) travels to Waipahu (10-0) and Waialua (4-7) plays Kalaheo (8-2) at Kailua District Park. The winners will earn Division II state tournament berths; the losers will play each other tomorrow for the league's third and final DII state berth.
