Hawai'i football fans missed out on watching two of the state's top running backs, Kahuku's Aofaga Wily and Zachary Payomo, when last Friday's O'ahu Interscholastic Association Red Conference championship game was canceled.

But Kaimuki's Chester Su'a made sure there still would be some great OIA rushing on display that night at Aloha Stadium and on OC16's statewide broadcast.

Su'a, a 6-foot-2, 210-pound senior, gained 161 yards and scored three touchdowns on 17 carries - all in the first three quarters - as the Bulldogs steamrolled past Kalaheo, 48-12. The victory earned Kaimuki its second OIA White Conference title in four years and propelled them into this Friday's state tournament first-round game at Kamehameha-Hawai'i.

Su'a scored his first two TDs, from 1 and 6 yards out, to help give the Bulldogs an early 14-0 lead in the first quarter. Then, early in the second half, he took a handoff and broke to the left side. After shaking off three would-be Mustang tacklers, Su'a turned on the jets and raced 71 yards for a touchdown and Keoki Kaiahua's extra point made it 35-6.

Su'a now ranks fourth among all Division II rushers with 1,202 yards and 15 TDs on 179 carries (6.7 ypc).

He has made a verbal commitment to play for Washington State University next year, most likely as a linebacker.
