This time, the Cougars left no doubt.

Just 13 days after needing two overtimes to eke out a win, Kaiser made sure the win was resounding in a 4-0 result over Kahuku in the opening round of the HHSAA/Hele Divsion I Girls Soccer State Championships.

Rory Matsumoto-Hussey scored the opening salvo in the first minute of play, and Skyy Smith followed up nine minutes later with a score of her own to put the home team up two goals in the very early going.

That score held through the half, and remained that way until the 65th minute of play when Tatum Mamuad scored her first game of the season to make it 3-0.

Leah Kanekoa scored the final goal for the Cougars in the 65th minute.

Up next for Kaiser is a 3:00 p.m. quarterfinal match against MIL champion Baldwin at Waipio on Wednesday, Jan. 29.

Kahuku ends its season 5-10-0.
