As expected, the top four teams in the rankings also moved on to the semifinals of the New City Nissan Division I Girls Volleyball Championships, with Kamehameha and Kahuku emerging from the bracket at McKinley.
In the first game of the night, Kahuku won in straight sets over fellow league representative Campbell, 25-12, 25-16, 25-20.
Five Red Raiders registered at least six kills, led by Haley Kotobalavu with nine, and Kahuku outblocked Campbell, 9-4, with Ana Kaufusi leading the charge with two block solos and three assisted.
Campbell was led by Kallie Theler who put down a match-high 13 kills in defeat.
The second quarterfinal at Student Council Gymnasium saw a battle of Kamehameha campuses, with Kapalama taking the win over Keaau, 25-17, 25-17 and 27-25.
Reigning All-Hawaii Player of the Year Kala Chock had a game-high 16 kills to pace the Warriors, and also contributed six total blocks, part of 16 as team by Kamehameha.
Kamehameha-Hawaii battled furiously in set three to try and extend the match, but just could not get over the hump. Shay Beals had eight kills and Kdynse Apaka and Ahinahiilaiku Enos seven each to lead the way for the BIIF champs in the loss.
As for the other semifinal pairing, Iolani made quick work of Mililani in the first game of the evening at Moanalua, allowing just 31 total points to the Trojans in the match, while Na Menehune escaped in five-set thriller over MIL champion Kamehameha-Maui.
Both semifinal games in Division I are set for Oct 31 at Moanalua, with first serve set for 5 p.m. The Warriors and Red Raiders play in the second semi, set for approximately 7 p.m.
