No. 2 Kamehameha topples No. 1 Iolani in five sets

Kalaweloilehua Chock put down a match-high 27 kills to lead No. 2 Kamehameha to a five-set win over top-ranked Iolani Tuesday night. 

The Warriors (8-3) rallied from down two sets to one to hand the Raiders (9-1) their first loss on the year. The set scores were 25-23, 24-26, 22-25, 28-26 and 15-12. 

Chock was one of three Kamehameha players to record double-digit kills. Sauimoana Purcell tallied 16 kills and Kalamaku Crabbe added 11 kills and a pair of aces. 

Shaye Teves and Alayah Wilson recorded 34 and 31 set assists, respectively. Bella Amey had nine kills, Kealoha Lyons seven and Ayva-Ray Malepeai five in the win. 

Poema Kalama-Kingma led Iolani with a team-high 24 kills. Taimane Ainuu contributed 18 kills and was in on five blocks, Georgie Lee chipped in 14 kills and Bailey Nakanelua amassed 58 set assists In the loss.

The Warriors trailed 10-6 in the fifth set but went on a 9-2 run to close out the match, which included five kills by Chock. 

It was Kamehameha's first win over Iolani in three tries this season. 

The Raiders host Hawaii Baptist Wednesday then visit No. 4 Mid-Pacific Saturday. 

The Warriors visit third-ranked Punahou Thursday.
